UPDATES!
This is the captain.
We have a little problem...with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence -
and then explode.
(With Horribleness at this year's CSTS screening!)
We are showing Dr Horrible's Sing-along-blog at the screening!!!
We will also have our awesome costume contest, door prizes and silent auctions. Please remember it's a charity, and it's Joss-verse, so there will be lots of cool thingys you will want to spend your hard-earned chashy-money on. Bring your mule full of stolen Alliance Credits and loosen those purse-strings. It's a charity, gorramit!
Tickets and supporting merchanise are available for pre-order onine now! The Portage WILL NOT be selling tickets before the 29th since we (the Browncoats) rent the theater for the event.
Tickets & Packages for the 2009 Chicago CSTS screening
We are also collecting again for The House of the Good Shepherd:
While Equality Now is the main focus of the Global Can’t Stop the Serenity event, we feel it is important to give back directly to a local charity. Like last year, we have chosen The House of the Good Shepherd, a favorite of ours. On the day of the screening—August 29th—we will be collecting much-needed items that are vital in helping the families who are breaking away from abusive homes. In addition, we will be donating 25% of the funds collected to The House .
Please bring your items to the Portage Theater on the day of the event. If you have items that are not listed, please contact us to make sure The House can use the items. The listed items arean the charity page.
Further details can be found at the Local Charity page.

What is Can't Stop the Serenity anyway?
Well, a long, long time ago, a bunch of people found, and lost far too quickly, a little show on Fox called Firefly. Saddened but armed with The Internet, they found each other and a common voice, and clamored to The Powers That Be until they received a movie. (How many half-season TV shows can claim that?) Their gratitude toward Joss Whedon and his vision of the Firefly 'verse broadened into a desire to give in return. The idea for a birthday present was born, and true to the spirit of Joss, they decided to give it to him in the form of promoting both their beloved Serenity and Joss's favorite charity Equality Now.
CSTS was originally conceived of as a singular event in 2006, but now has blossomed into a worldwide yearly phenomenon that raises awareness not only about the wonderful organization Equality Now, but gets to do it while us Browncoats mingle & watch one of the most unlikely(and re-watchable) movies ever created(IMHO!), and there is tons of cool swag! As an added bonus we get to indoctrinate( I mean 'introduce) new Browncoats on the Big Damn Screen!
We are an unlikely community, and we *are* mighty!
What is Dr. Horrible's Sing-along-blog?
Oh, just you wait. It's the best thing since Firefly. I can't wait to see it on The Big Screen!
Drag your friends, family, costumes, co-workers, credit cards, team-mates, random people you just met, Facebook Friends & actual loved ones for a shiny night of entertainment & carousing Browncoat style!

I love the Browncoats!
Hey Julia - You should *definitely* dress up! We have contests & prizes! Dress the sheep as cows and they'll be set too!
So, shall I dress up for this shiny shindig. It will be my first meet up. I don't know if I can get all the sheep for the dress though.
